One killed and nine injured in explosion at Ukraine coal mine

One miner died and nine sustained injuries on Monday as a result of a gas-air mixture explosion at a depth of 1,160 meters in the Pivnichna coal mine in Southern Ukraine.

The mine is operated by state enterprise Dzerzhynskvuhillia in the city of Dzerzhynsk, Donetsk region, according to the Emergencies Ministry of Ukraine. According to the Ministry, the explosion took place at 22.52 on Feb. 6. 
A total of 136 miners were working in the mine at the time of the explosion.
The mine has halted operations while the causes and circumstances of the incident are investigated.
