All companies and organisations are encouraged to apply, both members of the British Safety Council and non-members.
The Awards are given according to both sites and business units – reflecting how good practice in health and safety is often localised and part of the organisational culture.  This also allows people to enter multiple sites or business units as they wish.
Last year, the 33 winning organisations were from a wide range of sectors including construction, education, energy generation and transmission, facilities management, food and drink, manufacturing, oil and gas, public services, transport, distribution and utilities.
