An increasing diversity of applications is calling for modular, expandable computer platforms to accommodate PC architecture, plug-in data acquisition cards and custom electronics in a portable and field deployable manner. Even the toughest of laptops cannot offer the expandability of additional plug in cards, let alone custom electronics.
Captec’s latest Rugged Mobile Computing (RMC) platforms have been designed specifically with this in mind. This powerful, yet mobile system comes ruggedised for hostile environments and integrates expansion capabilities.
The RMC-Series integrates the expansion capability of a full size computer whilst having the relative mobility of a laptop. The series is available in multi-size formats; a compact briefcase style for handheld portability or a larger suitcase style with a telescopic handle and wheels. The mobile computer comprises a high powered processor, variable sized space bays which can incorporate custom electronics and multiple PCI/PCIe card slots for further expansion.
The RMC-Series has been engineered for use in a multitude of outdoor and challenging environments. The ultra rugged casing is IP67 rated with the lid closed and can withstand shock and vibration during transit. For ease of use in dusty/dirty outdoor environments, the RMC-Series comprises a sealed integral silicon keyboard and mouse with a TFT 12 or 15 inch daylight viewable display.
The RMC series is available with either an Intel Dual Core Atom or Second Generation mobile i3/i5 processor, allowing the performance to be scaled based on the application. A mix of USB and Ethernet ports are integrated to allow for connection to a multitude of peripherals or devices.
Flexible in its use, the RMC-Series can be used for a diversity of applications including; soft DVR surveillance, meteorological and environmental data acquisition, field broadcast, and geo-survey.
