Xerafy Ltd, a global supplier of RFID metal tags, has announced that its RFID tags are now certified to comply with the ATEX regulations for safe use in explosion-prone applications and potentially hazardous.

Xerafy RFID tags are now certified to comply with ATEX regulations
ATEX compliance is mandatory for certain industrial application and processes such as chemical plants and specialize refineries for logistics, maintenance and asset management operations. Xerafy’s tags successfully completed a detailed process of examination, testing and assessment for use in potentially hazardous areas by TECTUS, a leading and experienced ATEX specialist for RFID systems.
Under the control and authority of TECTUS, the tags have been marked with “CE” and “Ex” symbol and TECTUS Transponder Technology GmbH Certificate-No.: BVS 11 ATEX ZQS/E262 to certify their compliance to:
➢ EN60079-0:2006 General requirements
➢ EN60079-0:2007 Intrinsic safety
➢ IEC61241-0:2004 Dust explosion protection
➢ IEC61241-11:2005 Intrinsically safe apparatus
“The advantage of having Xerafy tags ATEX certified is to facilitate its acceptance within the EU, and also in many other areas worldwide, for adoption within hazardous environments where ATEX compliance is mandatory,” said Udo W. Doege, managing director of TECTUS. “Our industrial customers are now able to procure ATEX certified Xerafy tags from TECTUS and use these safely and reliably in ATEX Zone 1 or Zone 21 for dust."
“Xerafy tags are built to withstand the harshest RFID conditions, often operating in extreme temperatures and where explosive materials may be present,” said Dennis Khoo, CEO of Xerafy. “With ATEX compliance, our customers can be assured that along with great performance, safety has not been compromised in their tag selection.”
