Arkansas silo blast

15 February 2012

A dust explosion at a recycling plant in Arkansas blew the roof off a silo on February 10. No one was injured.

Joe Brooks, chairman of Springdale-based Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, which owns the plant, said the silo was almost empty and the ensuing fire was not severe.

The company manufactures building materials from recycled plastic and waste wood fibre. Local reports say there have been multiple explosions at the plant in recent years.
