Explosion at Oregon silicon chip plant injures two

Two people were reported injured in a chemical explosion at the Siltronics silicon chip plant in Portland, Oregon. A spokesman for Portland Fire and Rescue said workers were inside a vessel containing trichlorsilane, a chemical used to create silicon wafers, when oxygen leaked inside sparking a chemical explosion.
The two injured workers were later reported to have been released from hospital.
Siltronics, whose headquarters is in Germany, has been making semiconductorsc at the site since 1979.
