The computers are specifically engineered to offer a Zone II classification of explosion protection by ecom Technicians in Germany and, because of this joint development with Tyneside-based SCM and Teesside-based ecom instruments UK, this is the first time they have been deployed in such a unique role.
SCM has field-tested the devices and deployed them to more than 60 production and process facilities where they are being applied to real-time survey data collection on more than 20,000 Transits & Penetrations on offshore assets.
Using the laptops, technicians are able to check, interrogate and analyse corrosion and integrity data anywhere in the plant, and feedback changing conditions immediately, which streamlines the asset and corrosion management process.
As the equipment has direct access to information including document management, reporting systems and plant drawings, site operators can immediately determine the status of an item on the plant and, if necessary, feedback on its condition.
