Norway dairy plant explosion kills at least one

25 April 2012

A gas explosion at a dairy plant in Fredrikstad, Norway, killed one and injured three, police said.
Around 25 work at the plant and a number of workers are reported to be missing. The blast occurred on the afternoon of April 23, causing major damage to the main factory building and other buildings in the vicinity.

The entire glass front blew in and the roof collapsed, according to a visitor nearby quoted by The Local. The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear, but police believe gas could be behind the blast. A manager at the plant confirmed that a gas tank was being serviced that afternoon.
