Schischek explosion-proof sensors

22 June 2012

For over 25 years Schischek has supplied electric explosion proof products worldwide for use in HVAC, Industrial and Offshore applications. The company's new range of explosion-proof sensors has many advantages over traditional solutions for hazardous areas.

The range includes electric actuators, both quarter turn and linear, sensors, both transmitting and switching, for differential pressure, temperature, humidity, etc., as well as a range of accessories and complimentary control products.

Explosion proof sensors have been central to the Schischek success story. Designed and manufactured to the highest possible standards and in accordance with ATEX94/9/EC, Schischek products are suitable for operation in Ex zones 1, 2, 21 & 22 where gases, vapours, mists and dust may be present in the environment.

Schischek has introduced its own colour coding to indicate, at a glance, the appropriate application area, thus avoiding any installation errors.
*‘Ex’ Sensors for Ex zones 1, 2, 21, 22 (Yellow)
*‘Red’. Sensors for Ex zones 2, 22 (Red)
*‘In’. Sensors for safe areas. (Green)

Schsichek products are IP66 rated and are approved and certificated by: Ex, UL. CSA, both US and C, ExGostR and IECEx.

Explosion-proof sensors from Schischek are designed to operate in hazardous areas.
Conventional and traditional solutions have, in the past, been based around a passive sensor operation in the hazardous zone with a barrier/transducer mounted in the control panel with the two devices linked by intrinsically safe circuits.

The Schischek approach is different. Schischek devices offer a single package solution which is mounted in the hazardous zone, that is to say the sensor and transducer are part of a single unit that in itself is safe and complies with ATEX regulations.

This has the following key cost and space saving advantages:
*No module in the control panel.
*No intrinsically safe wiring between sensor and transducer/switching module.
*No intrinsically safe cable from panel to transducer/Switching module.
