Ghana tanker explosion kills three

An explosion at a tanker supplying fuel to fishermen on June 22 at Axim Beach in Ghana, has killed three and injured more than 25, according to local news sources. Most of those affected were fishermen. Some of the injured could not be identified because of the extent of their burns.

Police said a generator was being used to provide power for the distribution of pre-mix fuel due to a power outage, and the generator sparked the explosion and subsequent fire in the tanker, which engulfed those wairing around the tanker.

The police and Ghana National Fire Servicesay they will start a joint investigation into the causes of the explosion and fire.
