International panel prepares for ADIPEC Awards as final entry deadline approaches

10 July 2012

Oil and gas professionals across MENA are busily applying the final touches to their entries into the 2012 ADIPEC Awards as the submission deadline of July 15 rapidly approaches. Launched in 2010, the awards are now one of the most eagerly anticipated events during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), the largest upstream oil and gas trade show in the Middle East.

The awards recognise organisations that have raised the bar for excellence in the MENA oil and gas sector and achieved genuine innovation in projects, technology, field management, health and safety, and corporate social responsibility.

All submissions go through a transparent and strictly independent evaluation process administered by the awards Regional Select Jury (RSJ), comprising world renowned industry experts.

Kimon Alexandrou, Commercial Director of dmg::energy, organisers of ADIPEC 2012, said: “The judging panel, which consists of 21 leading industry personalities, demonstrates the importance of the ADIPEC awards to the regional industry as a whole.

“With more than US$150 billion worth of projects in oil and US$73 billion worth of gas projects in the GCC alone, either active or under tender, the region is the place to do business in the upstream sector. And the ADIPEC awards are now recognised as the best showcase of innovation and excellence in this critical part of the industry. It’s a privilege to have the involvement of so many respected authorities in our jury panel this year.”

The RSJ includes high-level representatives from ADNOC Group, Saudi Aramco, Bahrain Petroleum Company, Kuwait Petroleum Company, Petroleum Development Oman, Shell, Total, Partex Oil & Gas, Schlumberger, INPEX, PricewaterhouseCoopers, as well as leading academic institutions and professional associations.

Alexandrou added: “The ADIPEC Awards jury panel represents many of the main national oil companies in MENA, which are effectively the decision-makers on a swathe of new projects and investments across the region. Participation in the 2012 awards is, therefore, not only an opportunity for industry professionals to showcase excellence but also to reiterate their commitment to partnership of the region in achieving its many critical development goals.”

Based on an in-depth three-stage judging process, the ADIPEC Awards recognise only the most outstanding projects in the MENA region implemented between December 2010 and July 2012. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on November 11 at the St. Regis Saadiyat Resort in Abu Dhabi.

Hosted by ADNOC, supported by the UAE’s Ministry of Energy, and sponsored by JOGMEC, OMV and BUNDUQ, the awards feature five regional categories: Best MENA Oil and Gas Project; Best MENA Oil and Gas Innovation or Technology; Best MENA Oil and Gas HSE Project or Initiative; Best MENA CSR Initiative; and Best MENA Oilfield/Gas Field Management Strategy. The sixth category, Best International Oil and Gas Project, recognises international industry excellence.

Submissions can be made by filling out the online form on the ADIPEC Awards official website: www.adipec.com/awards. To streamline the process of submitting an award, RSJ member Rob Sherwin of Regester Larkin Energy has submitted an example (fictional) award entry which highlights key elements of how to produce a quality submission. It can be used as a point of reference and is available on the website.
