ATEX-certified electrical sockets and junction boxes from Marechal Electric

Marechal Electric has announced the introduction of a new range of ATEX-certified sockets and junction boxes which increase electrical safety in harsh, wet or hazardous environments such as oil refineries, chemical plants, gas terminals, grain silos and food processing.
These boxes provide customers with the flexibility to combine a wide range of functions in a single box, with ten standard box sizes in each range:
* MXBJ accepts up to 402 individual Exe terminals rated at 4A with 1.5mm² cables.
* MXBS combines socket-outlets and multi-contact connectors, with voltages up to 750V and currents up to 63A, in the same box. The largest of the ten standard case sizes can accept up to 24 socket-outlets or multi-connectors, with socket-outlets rated from 20A to 63A and multi-connectors rated at 10A and integrating between 12 and 37 contacts.
The terminals and ATEX plugs are suitable for use in ATEX environments which have a risk of explosion from gas or dust. The Decontactor socket-outlets, multi-contact connectors and MXBS boxes comply with the ATEX 94/9/CE directive and, depending on the version, are certified according to IECEx for use in zones 1 & 2, and 21 & 22.
Reliability is improved with a robust construction throughout, and by housings which are manufactured in polyester resin reinforced with fibre-glass and graphite. The MXBS Decontactor sockets are manufactured in polyamide, whilst the multi-connectors have metal casings. A wide range of accessories and stainless-steel screws provide fast and easy installation combined with long-term durability.
Sealing to IP66 ensures that the boxes are dust and water-tight and the cases are also protected against shocks rated to level IK09 according to IEC and EN 62 262.
The MXBJ and MXBS boxes guarantee high-quality electrical connections in atmospheres that have a high and permanent risk of explosion.

Marechal Electric boxes carry the ATEX mark and can be used in zones 1 & 2 (gas), and 21 & 22 (dust) to provide enhanced safety.
MXBS Certificates: IECEx Nr IECEx LCI 11.0042 and ATEX Nr LCIE 11 ATEX 3047 on request.
MXBJ Certificates: IECEx Nr IECEx LCI 11.0026 and ATEX Nr LCIE 11 ATEX 3028 on request.
