UK blast probe at Billingham factory

31 July 2012

Furnace explosions in a factory unit saw 10 workers evacuated from the Doncaster Paralloy factory in Billingham on July 24. The flames spread throughout the casting furnace unit, but all of the workers managed to escape uninjured.

Cleveland Fire Brigade firefighters tackled the blaze while officers from Cleveland Police also attended and closed off parts of the industrial estate where the plant was situated until the fire was extinguished.
The factory unit was substantially damaged and the causes of the explosion and fire are currently under investigation.
