TouchStar introduces new family of mobile computers for use in hazardous environments

TouchStar Technologies has announced the availability of a new range of mobile computers specifically designed for use in hazardous environments. The range consists of four data capture devices in different form factors and meeting different certification requirements.

TouchStar rugged mobile computers are already used in a variety of industrial applications including oil and gas distribution, test and measurement and asset and facilities management. TouchStar computers are also used for pipeline monitoring and integrity, leak detection and repair, vibration monitoring and infrastructure management.

The four data capture devices that comprise the TouchStar hazardous environments product range are:
TouchPC Hawk is designed to be vehicle mounted, but has an innovative quick-release mechanism allowing the user to detach it from the vehicle and switch smoothly to a mobile mode of operation, ideal for carrying out vehicle safety checks, tests, equipment checks, inventory controls, diagnostics and signature capture.
Mesa rugged notepad is designed specifically for the intrinsically safe market and is Class I, Division 2 non-incendive certified to safely collect data where explosive gases, liquids, or vapors may be present.
The Archer hand held mobile computer is designed for the most rugged applications, includes Bluetooth wireless technology and Wi-Fi options, and has an outdoor readable colour display.
The Boston 8550i hand held mobile computer is tough and can withstand extreme environmental conditions, while also offering the full functionality of a mobile computer, including features such as GPS and GPRS Edge.
