Yorkshire factory blast injures two

08 March 2013

The area around Scandinavia Mills, Cleckheaton, home to industrial gasket maker Flexitallic, was still closed to the public three days after a mystery blast at a Kirklees factory. The March 7 explosion happened in an industrial oven on the first-floor of an extension building. Two people were injured.

An investigation into the cause of the blast in Hunsworth Lane, has now been launched by the Health and Safety Executive, with the fire service and Flexitallic managers.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s group manager, Martin Speed, said there was no further risk of explosion or fire.
