New: d9000 high performance LED Floodlight for hazardous areas
03 June 2013
SCHUCH GmbH, the specialist in lighting solutions for hazardous areas since 1895, has launched it’s first LED floodlight for Zone 1/21. The new d9000 has an outstanding light output realized by 42 High-Power LEDs with an effective luminous flux of 10,200 lumen with a system performance of 76 lumen/Watt.

It is a 100% substitute for a conventional 250W HIT floodlight, but far more energy-efficient because its total power consumption is only 135 Watts. This provides energy savings of up to 45% compared to a conventional lighting solution.
The LEDs are equipped with specially-calculated optical lenses to ensure a homogeneous and effective lighting distribution. Narrow and Narrow-Wide distribution curve characteristics are available.
The general design of the floodlight is engineered in a way that it provides highest performance paired with optimum heat dissipation. It is a real light weight with 17kg only. Means that it has as well real advantages in terms of installation and maintenance against conventional Ex-d floodlights in this range. The wind load sensitivity is very low due to the compact shape. The overall construction is vibration and shock resistant to allow the use in installations where such parameters exist.
The housing is made of copper free aluminum alloy (British Standard Marine Grade BS EN 13195) and can therefore operate in the roughest environment without any additional provision like protective paint or hard coating. All supporting parts like swivel arm and outer screws are made of stainless steel.
The LED’s and the driver are of first class brand suppliers. The combination of those high end components paired with optimal thermo-management allows the d9000 floodlight to be used in ambient temperatures of -50°C through +60°C at maximum depending on the specific configuration.
Maintenance is more than easy with d9000. Replacement of LED modules and driver is provided by fast access in opening the threaded glass frame and can be done in the field. The flame-path is realized as a thread and is maintenance free because of the floods IIC specification. Although this criteria may not be of major importance due to the guaranteed 50.000h lifecycle of d9000.
The EX characteristics are the following:
Zone 1: II 2 G Ex d e op is IIC T4/T6 Gb and
Zone 21: II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T80°C Db
IP 66/67 (depending on cable glands in use)
The voltage and frequency range goes from 120-277V – 50/60Hz and makes the floodlight versatile for use in all regions of the world.
Wire-guard and safety rope are available as options.
The d9000 EX-floodlight from SCHUCH is the first LED lighting solution in this segment that provides 100% substitution of conventional lighting - technically and pricewise.
