In response to Prof Lofstedt’s 2011 review of Health and safety legislation, the HSE has consolidated the five Approved Codes of Practice on the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations into a single document*. There has also been some improvements to guidance both in the new ACOP and also in other publications on flammable liquids.

**This paper will be presented at HazardEx 2014, contact us for details of the available delegate packages & offers**

This presentation will pick out the important changes in these documents, that are important for anyone working in industries where DSEAR applies, and relevant also to suppliers to these organisations.

The key learning points include:

·        Points previously covered in guidance that have now acquired the quasi-legal status of approved code of practice;

·        HSE’s advice on risk assessments, particularly where there is overlap of the requirements of other legislation with DSEAR;

·        The impact of classification changes introduced by the European Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures.
