Pharma factory explosion in Brazil injures 26

At least 26 people were injured, including three who are in a critical condition, in an explosion at a medicine factory in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, EFE reported medical sources as saying. Of the three seriously injured staff, one had 90% burns, the second a deep head injury and the final worker suffered internal in juries from smoke inhalation. 

The accident occurred in the early hours of October 21 in the municipality of Pouso Alegre, located some 370 kilometres from the regional capital of Belo Horizonte.  According to firefighters, the accident occurred when a furnace exploded inside the factory.

Plant operator Cimed Medicine Industry says around 1,200 employees work in the Pouso Alegre facility, though the company was unable to specify how many people were present at the time of the explosion.
