Macedonia gas cylinder factory explosion kills three

Three of the five present in a gas cylinder factory in Bogdanci in southern Macedonia were killed in an explosion on February 5, according to local sources. One of the survivors is in hospital with 25% burns. The three killed were reported to be the brother of the owner of the factory, while the other two were an uncle and a nephew.

An inquiry will be carried out by the interior ministry and the prosecution into the blast. As yet there is no information about the cause of the explosion. The ensuing blaze took firefighters several hours to extinguish.
Nadica V'ckova, a spokeswoman for the National Center for Crisis Management, said the explosion occurred in a department where gas cylinders were being filled.
