Shell joins innovative waste-to-chemicals project in Netherlands 20 March 2019

A consortium of companies comprising Montreal-based Enerkem, Air Liquide, Nouryon and the Port of Rotterdam, has announced that Shell will join as a partner in Europe's first advanced waste-to-chemicals facility in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. According to Enerkem, Shell will become an equal equity partner in the proposed commercial-scale waste-to-chemicals (W2C) project, which will be the first of its kind in Europe to make valuable chemicals out of waste.

Dutch public prosecutor to sue Shell for explosion and toxic gas leak at Moerdijk plant 04 March 2019

The Dutch Public Prosecution Service announced on March 1 it would prosecute Royal Dutch Shell for an explosion in 2014 at its Moerdijk petrochemical plant and for the release of tonnes of carcinogenic ethylene oxide from the site in 2015 and 2016. According to the service, Shell did too little to prevent both incidents....

Shell announces methane emissions reduction target 19 September 2018

On September 17 Royal Dutch Shell plc announced a target to maintain methane emissions below 0.2% of its total oil and gas production by 2025, it said in a statement, joining BP, which last year set a similar goal. Exxon Mobil announced in May plans to reduce methane emissions by 15% by 2020....

Shell says major Nigerian pipeline still shut after leak 21 August 2018

Royal Dutch Shell’s Nigerian subsidiary has recovered over 95% of the oil from two spills that took place this year, although the pipeline that carries crude to the coast for export remains closed, the company said on August 20. The Trans Ramos pipeline, which carries crude oil to the  Forcados export terminal, closed in late April following two leaks in Bayelsa State and Delta State....
