A consortium of companies comprising Montreal-based Enerkem, Air Liquide, Nouryon and the Port of Rotterdam, has announced that Shell will join as a partner in Europe's first advanced waste-to-chemicals facility in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. According to Enerkem, Shell will become an equal equity partner in the proposed commercial-scale waste-to-chemicals (W2C) project, which will be the first of its kind in Europe to make valuable chemicals out of waste.
The Dutch Public Prosecution Service announced on March 1 it would prosecute Royal Dutch Shell for an explosion in 2014 at its Moerdijk petrochemical plant and for the release of tonnes of carcinogenic ethylene oxide from the site in 2015 and 2016. According to the service, Shell did too little to prevent both incidents....

Reports claim that there are indications that LNG Canada, the Royal Dutch Shell Plc-led group that is considering building a huge C$40-billion (US$30 billion) liquefied natural gas facility in British Columbia, will be given the go-ahead after early activity at the project’s main site at Kitimat. LNG Canada would export significant amounts of gas across the Pacific to Asia....
