Horizon Nuclear Power has signed a major contract with its reactor technology provider and primary contractor, Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy, to build new nuclear reactors in the UK. The contract sets the framework for design work to be undertaken for a new build at Wylfa in North Wales, close to the site of the existing nuclear power station....

Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501, "Hitachi") today announced the acquisition of Horizon Nuclear Power (Horizon) from RWE and E.ON. The transaction is expected to complete at the end of November, and upon completion, Hitachi will start leading a programme of building new nuclear power plants in the United Kingdom....
According to Reuters, both Westinghouse and Hitachi submitted bids for Horizon Nuclear Power by the September 28 cut-off date. Horizon owns nuclear sites at Oldbury in Gloucestershire and Wylfa on Anglesey in Wales, where it plans to build 6 gigawatts of nuclear capacity....
