Cracked hull causes oil leak from Brazilian FPSO 29 August 2019

A cracked hull in a Brazilian FPSO, the Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, has caused an oil spill around 130km (81 miles) off the coast of Brazil in the Espadarte oil field in the Campos Basin. Japanese offshore platform operator MODEC, which owns the vessel, informed Brazilian state-led oil company Petrobras of the incident on August 23. The vessel has been evacuated as a precautionary measure....

Oil theft attempt causes major spill from Brazil pipeline 10 December 2018

At least 60,000 litres of oil spilled into Rio de Janeiro’s Guanabara Bay and a nearby river on December 8 after an attempted robbery on a pipeline, according to a statement by Transpetro, part of the state-run oil and gas group Petrobras. The company said the oil had spilled into the Estrela River and immediate action by emergency teams ensured 75% of the oil had been cleaned up by the morning of December 10....

Three dead after Brazil drillship explosion 12 June 2017

Three workers were killed after an explosion on board the NS-32 (Norbe VIII) drillship in the Marlim field in the Campos Basin off Brazil on June 9. An explosion on an offshore oil and gas production and storage vessel (FPSO) operated by Brazil's Petrobras has killed at least five workers and injured ten. The state-run group said 74 workers were on board the FPSO at the time and four of them remain missing.
