Description: More modern, more interactive and always on the pulse of the process industry: this will distinguish ACHEMA 2021. With three new focus topics, a new website and new event formats, the world forum for the process industry is entering its next round. Registration for exhibitors is open.

Preparations are well underway a year and a half before the 33rd ACHEMA starts. This also includes identifying the three focus topics that shape the industry as a whole beyond individual exhibition groups. For 2021 that is

Product and process

security The increasing use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in operation and production brings IT and cyber security to the top of the priority list. Cyber ??attacks are becoming more common. The interplay between the physical and virtual world must therefore be secured. It is important to assess and remedy weaknesses along the entire value chain, from the procurement of raw materials to the recycling of the products at the end of their service life.

"The digital lab"

There is usually still a long way to go before intelligent digital workflows in a fully networked laboratory. The basis is at least the establishment of a powerful IT environment and fully integrated devices; But it can also go so far that the laboratory rooms are completely redesigned and divided.

R&D laboratories and quality assurance laboratories can pursue different approaches. A modular structure is therefore just as desirable for the laboratory as for production plants. Both types of laboratory generate a large amount of data, which must be evaluated using big data methods.

Modular and networked production

Manufacturing processes in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry have to be flexible, fast and inexpensive. Modular process skids that can do this are pre-assembled, tested in the technical center and then assembled on site. The skids are equipped with their own programmable control logic or can be integrated into a higher-level process control system. Module Type Packages (MTP) with open standard interfaces enable real interoperability. Modular systems are the key to meeting customer requests for small batches of different products.

But that's not the end of the innovations: On the basis of the tried-and-tested concept of ACHEMA with its unique range of topics and the established interaction between exhibition and congress, the organizers of DECHEMA are currently working on new formats that should offer even more opportunities for discussion and networking. Matchmaking tools are just as much a part of this as new interactive event formats. They are intended to stimulate the discussion and provide additional impulses. The layout of the halls was also slightly adjusted to make optimal use of the structural changes on the exhibition site and to integrate the brand new Hall 12 in the middle of the area.

For example, ACHEMA, which celebrates its centenary in 2020, offers the opportunity to experience the latest solutions and products for the process industry live and to establish global contacts. With the redesigned website, an information center is available which, in addition to the latest news about the event, also puts the topics in the right light and thus gives exhibitors and visitors the opportunity to set impulses and get informed about new trends in advance.
