  • Last blast furnace at Port Talbot steelworks closes

    Tata Steel is ceasing operations at Blast Furnace 4 along with other associated iron and steelmaking assets at Port Talbot, the UK’s largest steel plant, bringing an end to ironmaking at the site. The first of the plant’s two blast furnaces closed in July with both set to be replace with Electric Arc Furnace technology that produce less carbon dioxide. Around 2,800 jobs across the UK will be lost as a result....
